According to the Bible, a “Mission” is the sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ with people anywhere and everywhere in the world. It is in Christ’s command to His disciples, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”(Mark 16:15). We hear it again in 1 Chronicles 16:24, “Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvelous works among all nations.” Basically, go tell the story of Jesus.
Our church participates in several missions every year, both "at home" locally and around the world.
Our local missions include Carpenters for Christ, where volunteers join together to build wheelchair ramps, and perform other carpentry, minor plumbing and simple electrical repairs. The ladies of the Potters' Hands prepare and serve meals for our monthly supper, purchase items for and create care packages for home-bound members of the community, prepare Blessing Baskets for our members who are recuperating from illness and/or hospital stays, and much more. Both ministries are active year-round.
Our Angel Tree is a Christmas project collecting and distributing needed items to school children and nursing home residents, depending on the need. We offer free car washes in conjunction with a free yard sale once a year (spring or summer) where members of the community can obtain numerous gently used items for themselves while having their vehicles washed...all at no charge - and while listening to gospel music and eating a free lunch of hotdogs, chips and drinks.
Ministries outside of our local area include Mission trips to assist after storms or natural disasters where we provide not only food, clothing and supplies, but also manpower for clean-up and rebuilding efforts. These may be in our own neighborhoods, state, or anywhere there is a need. We partner with eMissions Air for deliveries to areas not easily accessible by our drivers.
We have also sent Mission teams to Kenya, East Africa to share with those hungry for the Word of God, as well as to deliver much needed food and supplies to the slums of Kenya and other disadvantaged areas.
